About Us

The Laborers International Union of North America (LIUNA) National Guard Council (NGC) Local 1776 was chartered on January 1, 2015, in order to unite all LIUNA National Guard Locals under one banner in order to provide more effective representation to the more than 5,000 National Guard Dual-Status & Non-Dual Status Technician employees we represent. It is the successor of the LIUNA National Guard District Council (NGDC).

Our History

LIUNA began representing National Guard employees in 1999. Originally, the LIUNA National Guard bargaining unit was divided into separate Union Locals, each independent and autonomous of each other. In 2010, the NGDC was chartered to oversee administrative and representational functions for all LIUNA National Guard Locals, however the Locals retained their autonomy and independence. The NGDC operated from December 2010 to December 2014. After 4 years of successful operation it was decided that the needs of the members would be even better served if all Locals were combined into one.
